"Yahad" elementary school - Jesse Cohen neighborhood, Holon

The Orenstein Project supplies food products for nutrition lessons in "Yahad" school ("together"). This is an innovative state school for grades 1 - 6, which is located in "Jesse Cohen", poor neighborhood of Holon a city south of Tel- Aviv. This neighborhood is known for being riddled with violence. The neighborhood is known for having immigrants from both Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union.

The Orenstein Project together with the school initiated a project in which the children learn about nutrition, food ingredients and about the Israeli cuisine. The lessons are taught by school teachers in a kitchen set up in the school for that purpose.

Israel is a "melting pot" for many cultures. We believe that supporting this program will help these children obtain an education about nutrition and local healthy ingredients, and transfer their knowledge to their families
